Judaic Art
Judaic art is a fulfillment of “hidur mitzvah,” the principle to practice mitzvot (religious commandments) with beauty. It is in this spirit that I create the types of Judaic artworks displayed here that enhance community spaces, homes, and rituals. The artworks presented here were created as commissions, self-initiated works, or as part of my role as a full-time graphic designer.
Jewish Values and Areas of Impact Murals
Client: The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey
The following is a description posted next to these murals, where they are installed at the Katz JCC in Cherry Hill, New Jersey:
These two murals are here to inspire and remind our community why we do what we do. In the Jewish tradition, the mezuzahs affixed on doorposts remind us of the core Jewish beliefs and to live by them. Similarly, this artwork reminds us of the Jewish values that motivate our community and that we act on those values through the many services and programs across all of our five Areas of Impact. Each artwork is eighteen feet long, a spiritually meaningful number in Judaism derived from the Hebrew word “chai” meaning “life.”

The Darnov Art Process for a Judaic Art Commission:
1) Intro Phone Call
This is an opportunity for me to hear about your goals for your project and any visual ideas you have.
2) Signed Agreement
The agreement lays out all the details of how I will create your artwork and ensures that everyone is on the same page about logistics and payment.
3) Sketches
I will visualize your ideas for your artwork first as a series of small sketches and then as a more detailed drawing. Along the way, you will have the chance to make edits and changes.
4) Finished Painting
I will turn the detailed drawing into a finished painting and fine-tune it until you completely love it!
5) Printing and Delivery!
If your project involves printing, I will facilitate printing and shipping your artwork through a high-quality, archival print shop. If you use your own printer, I will provide a high-resolution print-ready file for them to use.
Please note: this process is a general outline and may vary depending on your unique project.
